Low Calorie Foods
We have assembled a list of low calorie foods for the purpose of calorie counting during weight loss period. No matter how low your calorie diet is, you need to have a good balance of carbohydrate, protein, fat and vegetables.
Most diet experts will recommend replacing part of the fat daily intake with more vegetables and fruits, making it the largest portion in your diet meal. Allocate the remaining 25% to protein and 25% to some carbohydrate when you are dieting.
Fruits and vegetables are the best form of low calorie foods for any diet plans. Besides the low calories, fruits are rich in different types of vitamins, fibre and antioxidants.
If you do not know what to eat during snack or when you are hungry, just pick up an apple with an estimated of 68 calories. Banana which has slightly higher calories of approximately 98 kcal, keeps your stomach full and is rich in dietary fibre. From the list below, you will notice most fruits have less than 100 calories. Out of so many fruits, do avoid avocado when you are planning to go on diet. One whole avocado has approximately 280 calories! Mangoes and soursop are also high in calories for dieters.
Try to eat only fresh fruits and avoid the dried fruits or those in a canned. Eat also the skin as well and the fruits itself. Fruit juices have different calories and you will tend to feel hungry faster.

Vegetables are excellent low calorie diets. Choose few types of vegetables when having your diet meals. Mix them around so not to feel bored. Carrots, celery, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber are easy to find and cheap vegetables that you can get anywhere and all are low calorie foods.
Eating the vegetables raw are the best, avoid butter, fried, very oily cooking. That will adds up the calories and destroy the nutrition.
I have included some more popular vegetables and its calories in the list. I have also added in a few highest calories vegetables for comparison. Most vegetables have calories under 100 kcal as well. When dieting, try to avoid Potato and Yam in particular, there are high in calories.
The list is just a very rough guide and the calories depends on different weight and sizes. The way it is cook and how much oil that is added in also changes the calories level. So remember to include fruits and vegatables as your low calorie foods in your overall diet and live a healthy and balance diet.
